The Boy In The Striped Pajamas

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a powerful fictional story that offers a unique perspective on how prejudice, hatred and violence affect innocent people, particularly children, during wartime. Through the eyes of an eight-year-old boy largely shielded from the reality of World War II, we witness a forbidden friendship that forms between Bruno, the son of Nazi commandant, and Shmuel, a Jewish boy held captive in a concentration camp. Though the two are separated physically by a barbed wire fence, their lives become inescapably intertwined. The imagined story of Bruno and Shmuel sheds light on the brutality, senselessness and devastating consequences of war from an unusual point of view. Together, their tragic journey helps recall the millions of innocent victims of the Holocaust.

I Thought this movie was great. This movie left me speechless after I saw it. I thought this film was filled with many twists and turns. This film is also very intense and eye opening to the horrors of the holocaust.

Milk

In 1977, Harvey Milk was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, becoming the first openly gay man to be voted into major public office in America.

This film is a moving piece of art that shows how hard it was for a homosexual man to be treated equal. Taking place in the 70's a man named Harvey Milk just wants to be treated equal. He then decides to run for supervisor for the newly zoned District 5. Milk serves San Francisco well while lobbying for a citywide ordinance protecting people from being fired because of their sexual preferences – and rallying support against a proposed statewide referendum to fire gay schoolteachers and their supporters; he realizes that this fight against Proposition 6 represents a risky time for the gay rights movement.

I thought this film was amazing. I loved how they captured the struggles and problems of a homosexual person back then. I thought the cinematography was great and they really made the characters look like the real people. In the film there is also a lot of real news footage that helps you visualize the time and the stugles of gay men.

The Changeling

The Changeling is an amazing true story turned into a movie about a lady named Christine Collins (Set in the 20's of Los Angeles). One day she returns home from work and her son disappears. She calls the police and they have not heard anything. Some months later the police call her and say that they have found her son. She goes to see the boy and it turns up it is not her son. The police then threaten her to say it is her son and mention to the press that her son has returned home. Her real son was kidnapped by a homicidal child cereal murderer. This movie is filled with action, drama, suspense, and evan some horror. It shows how corrupt the L.A.P.D. were in the 20's and how people would do anything to reach the top and have no questions asked.

I thought this film was very intense and confusing at some points. I loved the dark gloomy felling of the film. This movie had an amazing cast and director. There was on scene where it is a court room and the crowd starts clapping and I wanted to start clapping. Personally think it should be nominated for an Academy Award. This film really draws you in with its amazing look, feel, style, and creativity.
